This event will take place on 16/01/2024 between 10am and 12pm

This session will explore the core statutory functions of governors in a Church of England school or academy.  It will look at the legalities for leading a school with a church foundation; the main purpose, powers and duties of governing boards and the legal framework within which they operate.

Participants will develop an understanding of the difference between Voluntary Aided schools, Voluntary Controlled schools and academies. They will also gain an overview of the governor's role in a SIAMS inspection.  This session will explore what the vision means in reality and will look at how governors can contribute to the vision of their school and ensure it is lived out through all aspects of their work.
